Standout Soba in a Casual Communal Setting

ocoron Restaurant Soba Noodles

About Cocoron

& why it made the Carpe City list

One of the best spots for soba in the city

  • FOOD – Very good Japanese buckwheat soba noodles, made fresh daily.  They also offer creative appetizers, are vegan-friendly, and feature a food allergy diagram, just in case!
  • ATMOSPHERE – Very casual, bustling, with communal tables, a few four tops and bar seating.
  • WHO/WHAT IT IS GOOD FOR – Casual dinner out with friends, groups if you are on the early side, good for quick and easy date night at the bar seating, and a solid option for gourmands.
  • BEVERAGE SITUATION – Beer, Sake and Plum Wine
  • SUGGESTED EATS/DRINKS – Try the Dip Soba where the noodles are cold and the broth is warm. The Mera Mera Dip Soba was our group’s favorite.  They have a lot of really interesting appetizers.  We enjoyed the Yami Q and the Silky Tofu and are excited to go back and try the Fried Chicken, Daikon Mochi and Steamed Chicken Meatball.  Drop us a note if you have a favorite for us to try on our next visit!
  • TIPS – It can get crowded and they don’t take reservations. They have a sister restaurant on Kenmare, but this one is the bigger of the two.  CASH ONLY.
