Hester Street Fair Lower East Side

About Hester Street Fair

& why it made the Carpe City list

  • Started as a cultural/community gathering in 2010, the Hester Street Fair operates every Saturday from April to October at Seward Park on the corner of Hester and Essex Streets.
  • The fair takes place on the site of what was once the city’s largest pushcart market, started in 1895.
  • Today, the Fair honors that pushcart hustle history by offering a space for local vendors to sell their wares. Over the years, hundreds of successful businesses have made their first dollar at the Hester Street Fair.
  • You’ll find good music, good food, and above all, good vibes at the Hester Street Fair.
    • The Fair partners with community orgs like The Lower East Side Girls Club so you know your good vibes (and dollars!) support a good cause.
    • The Fair also does cool special events like Oktoberfest, The Casual Art Fair, an Ice Cream Social, a Wellness Weekend, an Iced Coffee Competition, and a Jamaican Independence Day Celebration!
