About Milk Bar

& why it made the Carpe City list

  • Creative and delicious desserts from a powerhouse female chef
  • After honing her skills as the queen of desserts at Momofuku, Christina Tosi struck out on her own with the Momofuku Milk Bar, now known simply as Milk Bar.
  • Now in multiple locations across the US, Milk Bar is famous for its creative and insta-worthy desserts.
  • Tosi is not afraid to be unconventional.  Some of the most delicious creations Milk bar offers include:
    • The Compost Cookie – A crazy concoction of chocolate chips, butterscotch, coffee, graham crackers, pretzels, and potato chips.  The sweet and savory here really works.
    • The Crack Pie – Now known as the more politically correct “Milk Bar Pie,” we have no idea what’s in this sweet, salty and sticky circular piece of heaven, but we can’t get enough.
    • The Birthday Cake – Cakecrumbs and vanilla make this baby a standout.
    • Birthday Truffles – It’s like the donut hole of birthday cakes.  Perfect and ridiculously hard to stop at one!
    • Cereal Milk Soft Serve – Yes, it is how it sounds.  Tosi has recreated the taste of your morning cereal and offered it up in a tasty cone.  Try the fruity loop version.
  • This location, just across the street from Momofuku Ssam, is tiny, with just a few seats, so it’s more of a takeout place than a hangout operation
  • Tosi is not shy to share her pastry prowess; she offers recipes on the Milk Bar website, offers classes in Brooklyn, D.C., and LA, and has an awesome cookbook.
