- Started by Khalid Latif, Russell Khan and Bassam Tariq in 2014, Honest Chops is a unique butcher shop founded on a philosophy of sustainable practices, like sourcing meat from small, GMO-free and hormone-free producers in Upstate New York and nearby states.
- The store sells all kinds of fresh meat, including beef, lamb, chicken, turkey, oxtail, and a wide range of sausages, including the traditional Pathan sausage.
- What makes Honest Chops unique is that it is a halal butcher shop. Halal comes from the Arabic word for “permissible,” which mandates how slaughtering and butchering must be practiced. (See more below!)
- Honest Chops also operates a burger shop called BURGERS by Honest Chops on MacDougal Street. The restaurant offers beef, veggie, lamb, and chicken burgers as well as extras such as truffle fries and grilled cheese.
