FOOD – I Sodi serves exceptional Italian comfort food developed from owner Rita Sodi’s Tuscan childhood. Sodi knows how to take minimal ingredients and make magic. I could keep gushing, but you get the point. It is pretty f* fantastic.
ATMOSPHERE – A narrow boîte with a bar on one side and a row of tables with proper white tablecloths on the other. One of the hardest reservations in the city, it is always full but does not feel crowded. It has a welcoming and comfortable vibe.
WHO/WHAT IT IS GOOD FOR – Date night, small group birthday dinners, dining at the bar and experiencing one of the best Italian meals in the city.
BEVERAGE SITUATION – Lovely negroni’s, a full bar and an extensive Italian wine list.
SUGGESTED EATS/DRINKS –
Lasagna – If there is one thing I never miss, it is iSodi’s delicious, crispy, multi-multi-layered, signature lasagna.
The menu changes often but I highly recommend one of the veggie appetizers as well as whatever the Insalata of the week is.
You can’t go wrong with any of the pastas. The Cacio e Pepe is one of the best around but always ask about the specials.
INSIDER TIPS
ISodi is one of the hardest reservations in the city, but if you go just before opening, you might be able to grab an early table or a seat at the bar. This is not a guarantee. I have seen a line 30 people long 45 minutes before opening. Look at it this way, at least you will be in line chatting with people who have great taste in food. You never know, soon you will be telling the story about how you met your new best friend in a line for lasagna.
