About First Street Green Park

& why it made the Carpe City list

  • Started in 2008, the First Street Green organization transformed these formerly run-down, derelict walls and an alleyway into a colorful public park of street art.
  • The art changes regularly. It is an open call system so anyone can paint a mural, but you have to apply to do so.
  • Since the art changes so often, we can’t really tell you much about each artist, but walk around and check it out. Start at the corner of Houston and 2nd Ave and walk east. You will see the west wall, then the plaza alleyway, and then the east wall.
