A Favorite for Natural Wine and Creative Bites

Wildair Radishes

About Wildair

& why it made the Carpe City list

  • We Love the Casual and Cool Lower East Side Atmosphere Juxtaposed with an Outstanding Wine List and “Haute Bites.”
  • The first time we walked in, Wildair reminded us of one of our Paris faves, Frenchie bar à vins, and we were immediately hooked.
  • It’s hard to find such a robust wine list and quality food in a setting like this. Both are what you’d expect at a stuffy $$$$ place with white tablecloths.
  • The atmosphere is hip and minimalist, with high-top tables in one small, open room.
  • Drinks: Wildair has an extensive wine list of small producers with an emphasis on natural, low-intervention wines, plus a unique beer & spirits list.
  • If you don’t already know, this is the sister wine bar of the much-lauded Contra restaurant next door, which is also one of our favorite spots in the LES.
  • The menu is creative new American. To call it “bar food” sounds somewhat ridiculous with dishes like beef tartare with smoked cheddar, horseradish, and Brazil nuts or potato dauphin with Maine uni and jalapeño. Even the breakfast radishes with seaweed butter are fabulous.
  • If yours is a party of two, try to grab counter seats by the kitchen.
  • They take some reservations as well as walk-ins. It gets crowded, so if you want prime time, try and make a reservation.
